Can I Rent Accommodation If I Am Under 18 Years Old?

Unfortunately, you cannot rent a room or studio if you are under the age of 18.

According to Dutch law, individuals must be at least 18 years old to legally enter into a tenancy agreement. Rental contracts are legally binding agreements, and minors (those under 18) are not legally competent to sign such agreements on their own.

Additionally, landlords are required to comply with regulations concerning tenancy rights and liability. Renting to minors poses legal and insurance-related risks, which is why it is not allowed.

If you are turning 18 soon, feel free to reach out to us. In some cases, we can already provide information or keep you informed about available options once you are eligible to rent.
